This is another direct to paper technique card and I stamped the cupcake in the center instead of the truck. Added the sentiment to this one since I knew it was going to be a birthday card....duh and voila...another card for my stash. The picture isn't the clearest but it's the best I could get. Not sure what kind of card this is going to end up being, so for now I am just going to leave it blank. I always have a hard time coming up with manly cards and I was playing around with the direct to paper technique and thought this truck would look cool on here. So for now I'm just going to leave it blank and will decide if it's going to be a birthday, thank you, get well or just because card when the need arises. On the direct to paper technique you just simply directly apply your ink pad to the paper.....duh! Hence the name direct to paper...lol Extremely simple and very fast card and now I have a man card ready to go...whoop whoop. Enjoy your weekend. I am going to Dublin, Texas to the 120th Dr Pepper Anniversary. First let me say that I am a Coca Cola addict and I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to get any there...sniff sniff It will be something different to do though and should be pretty cool. Not weather wise of course....cool as in fun. Should be close to 100 degrees so not looking forward to that at all. They go all out and are having lots of activities. They even change the city limit signs to read Dr. Pepper, Texas for this week.....now that's pretty sweet. We should get to take a tour of the plant and can't wait to visit the gift shop I bet they have a bunch of old timey stuff in there. Anyway if I survive the heat it should be fun. I may have to smuggle in a coke but we will see. Happy Weekend! I thought it would never get here!

More Flowers

More of the same but with different background paper. The flowers were cut out of background paper and glued onto a piece of scrap plaid that I had. I stuck a glitter heart in the center of each flower to add dimension and a little something extra. The sentiment was stamped onto the plaid paper and bam you are done again. Almost have a group together to send to my friend. I need a few more but am getting there.

Proverbs 24:16 says that when a just man falleth he riseth up again.....hey that is great news right? Being a Christian does not make you perfect, so we are going to fail at times. The great news is though, that the Lord is there to pick us back up. He is holding us up with His hand. We can't do it alone for sure and we need His help. Thank God He is there for us no matter how many times we fall and no matter how many times we fail. He will always be there to pick us back up, dust us off and put us back on our feet so that we can start anew. What an awesome God we serve to never give up on us. Thank you Lord, for always picking me back up and giving me another chance to do it right the next time.

I used leftover scraps to complete these two cards. I stamped the flowers on the yellow checked paper. I also stamped the sentiment after I had adhered everthing down. Then I ran the whole card through my Cuttlebug machine to emboss. Very simple and very bright and cheery and I used up some scraps.....can't beat that right?

Daily Ponderings: So I have to tell on myself. I'm always in a hurry and I do everything in super fast mode. You will never see me "meandering". As usual I was in a hurry this morning but decided to stop at McDonalds for some unhealthy breakfast. I was coming one way towards the drive thru and this lady was coming another and we reached the point about the same time. Now I could have easily beat her and jumped in front of her but I didn't. I stopped and "did the right thing" and let her go first. Unfortunately the whole time I was behind her I was mumbling. "Ok lady now I let you go first so hurry up." Then she paid for her order and got her food and I saw her keep talking to the worker and so now she is delaying me right? So I'm mumbling again..."Oh come on lady good grief." So then I see her hand the lady some more money and so I'm thinking to myself she just placed another order...."GREAT!" ...but then she drove off and never got any more food. So I hurry up to the window and the lady says" that lady in front of you just paid for yours" and immediately I felt 1 inch high and I had to stop and apologize to God and ask for forgiveness for my attitude and grumblings. Boy did I feel like an ungrateful heel. So I caught up with her and thanked her via sign language through the car window....but boy oh boy did God speak to me first thing this morning. Wow! So the moral to this story is not only do the right thing but do the right thing with the right attitude. It means more and that's the way Jesus would do it!

I stamped the frame first then I added the flower and then the sentiment last. Voila........done! I am trying to get several cards made up to send to my friend that moved to Chicago. She is 87 and used to love giving my cards out, so I thought I would surprise her with a set. As you can see this was very simple.

Throwing Out The First Pitch!

Me and my Daddy waiting to go out on the field! My dad got to throw out the first pitch for the Texas Rangers last year for the last game of the season before they went into the playoffs. It was so cool and exciting. He got an official jersey with his name on the back and got to keep the baseball, plus we got two free tickets for the game in the "all you can eat" home run porch. This was such a thrill for all of us and what a once in a lifetime opportunity. We have since put the jersey and the tickets in a shadow box. What a fun day! Gooooo Rangers!

Quick Birthday

So I was playing around and thought I would try embossing my whole card after I glued my flowers down and I really like that effect. It adds just enough oomph to the card that gives that little extra pizazz. It takes away from it being so plain. I opted not to emboss the sentiment so that it would stand out and not blend in with the rest of the card. The flowers were cut out of designer paper from Hobby Lobby. Then I used a piece of scrap paper left over from another project for the background. Very quick and easy. I love those kind of cards.

Hey guess what? It's a boy! This is for my Texas Ranger liason that I met last year when my Dad got to throw out the first pitch...I should post pics of that shouldn't I? It was the best ever. Anyway Nick and his wife are having their first child any day now, so I made this card to send to them. I hope they like it. They are going to be awesome parents. I stamped the teddy bear on blue and white checked paper as did the hand and footprints. The letters were some that I have had for a long time and I just faux stitched them to add some oomph to them and make them stand out. I also added faux stitching around the bear and the denim paper. I guess I better hurry up and get this and his present in the mail. Congrats Nick! I pray your little boy is born safe and healthy with baseball in his genes.

Do you feel as though you are wondering around in the wilderness? Is your life thirsting for something more while you are in the desert place? Does life seem all screwed up and have your dreams been crushed? Sometimes life doesn't always go the way we have it planned out in our minds and when it doesn't sometimes it can cause great frustration, heartache and even hopelessness. May I encourage you today that if your days seem dark and your life has been turned upside down, please ask God for help and He will make a way through that wilderness that you are wondering around in and He will provide water while you are in the desert. Let God make a way and allow Him to make the changes in your life and you will have joy again soon. You might have to skip over to plan B or even C but if you allow God to help He will and I promise you He will make a way.....in His time! Don't give up! Keep going forward!

Healing Flowers

I don't really know what to say about this card except for the fact that I just got tired of trying to make it work and ended up settling because I needed to get it in the mail. Hopefully the recipient will still like it and not critique it too much. Afterall, it's the thought that counts right? lol I ran my ink pad over my sentiment to take up the big bright white space on the inside of the card and it really helped with that. I did the same thing on the envelope. I later added stitching with a purple pen on the front of the card to try to tone down the white that just stood out but I didn't take a picture of it.

Pre-school Grad Card

This is a stamp that someone gave me a long time ago and I thought I would never use it but it turned out perfect for a pre-school graduation card. I wanted to stamp it on red checked paper but I didn't have any so I went with the yellow. I colored the inside sentiment with my Prismas. Needed a quick card and this was it. Enjoy your weekend.

Father's Day Puzzle

Soooo, manly cards are the hardest for me. Why? I dunno. Probably because you can't use flowers or scalloped edges. My dad loves crosswords and so I got the idea a while back from here. I sponged the edges to tone it down some and the rest is pretty much self explanatory. I know he will like it. He always likes my handmade cards. I got my creative genes from him. I haven't finished the inside yet. I will have to come up with something clever. Can't believe I got a card done early.....yeah me!!

Feeling Better Flowers

I first ran my ink pad across the square on one side. (I saw this on someone's blog but forgot whos...sorry) Anyway then I stamped the flowers but they needed something else so I drew the border around it and BAM...it really finished them off. Same thing with the green polkadot paper...it needed a little something else so I drew a border around it as well. After I finished the card it still was missing something so I added the three brads and I think it was just the touch it needed to complete it. I wasn't too fond of this card at first but the more that I look at it the more I fall in love with the outcome....Hope you like it too.

What'z Up?

Just playing around and needed a quick card. The flowers are designer paper from Paper Studio and I just cut them out and glued them on a solid background. I added a little color with stickles and the heart stickers in the middle of each flower. I stamped the phrase and voila...I'm done. I am sending this to my friend that moved to Chicago last year. I miss her. She is 88 years old and we used to go out to eat a lot and had the best time. I miss talking to her. We could sit and talk forever. It was time for her to move closer to her family and she is doing well and is very happy. Hey! Dorothy!

Little Chicky

What a cute little chick-a-dee. I made these for the kids in my neighborhood. I'm the crazy lady down the street that they all like to come see and hang out with. Now don't get confused...I'm not the crazy "cat" lady down the street just the crazy lady. I was never blessed with children and so I have to spoil everybody elses. We have fun and hopefully I am teaching them some things that they will remember for the rest of their lives. I try to teach them about right and wrong and build their character. They don't get away with much when they are down at my house but we still have lots of fun. Kids just need someone to listen to them and give them attention and most people shoo them away and tell them to go play or watch TV. Well about the card...this was a dollar stamp from Michaels several years ago and the rest is just designer paper from Hobby Lobby of course.

I just love this Bunny Stamp from Paper Inspirations. I actually love all of their stamps. They are so pretty and just pop once they are colored. I made these cards to send to my girlfriends for Easter this year. I had a different layout in my mind but as usual it didn't work out on the actual card so I had to improvise with the background paper. I still like how they turned out but still not my first choice of layout. I colored the rabbit with Prisma pencils and then blended with Gamsol. I went around the edges with a Gold Leaf Pen and I added a little scoring on the top and bottom of each card to add a little something extra.

I made this card for the Splitcoast CAS116 challenge - the Artist's Rule of 3. CAS stands for Clean and Simple and I gotta tell ya it doesn't get much simpler than this. Background paper and one stamp and Bam....you're done. The paper is from Hobby Lobby and the stamp is from Stamps N More. I got the inspiration for the design and colors from a lady's Easter outfit at church. She had a black and white jacket on similar to this background paper and a touch of lime green with a shell underneath the jacket and earrings. It was so pretty and just stood out to me and as I kept looking at it I saw this card come to mind. Isn't it funny where you get your inspiration sometimes?

This is a baby card I made for my new next door neighbor. They just had a beautiful baby girl! The only stamping is the phrase New Baby. The rest is just designer paper. Very easy. I guess you could call this a clean and simple card. The paper came from Hobby Lobby.

Sometimes I have to ask God to MAKE me hear joy and gladness espcecially when I am overwhelmed or stressed over something. I don't always concentrate on the positive so sometimes (more often than not) I have to ask God to show me the good and to MAKE me have and to hear joy and gladness around me. I have this verse on my bathroom mirror to remind me everyday to be more positive and to have more joy no matter what the circumstances. Not always an easy task I must admit. Enjoy your day!

Long Time No Post

First post in a very very very long time. I have been busy making jewelry and haven't been able to make cards too often. I used the Bargello technique from Splitcoast Stampers for this card. It was really easy and I like the look it makes for a background. The horse stamp is from Stampin Up. The rest is all paper I have had for a long long time ,probabaly from Hobby Lobby. Hope you enjoy. I am going to try to get back to posting more often.

Ok I saw this sentiment on someone else's blog but unfortunately I don't remember which one. This was for my friend Karen's 40th B-day and on the inside it says "from your 110 pound friend" ha ha I mean if she can think she's 29 I can surely think I'm 110 pounds. LOL The cupcake is colored with Prismas and blended with Gamsol. The edge of the scallop is highlighted with chalk. Very bright and cheery! Happy Birthday Karen!

I created this card with my new SLICE also. I cut out the flowers in graduated sizes. This also fits the Splitcoast Sketch Challenge 198. It's pretty much self explanatory by looking at it. I cut out the main flower using my new Slice diecut machine in graduated sizes. I ran it through my cuttlebug using the Dotted Swiss folder and then I added a brad in the center. Everything else is pretty much as it seems. I adhered the patterened paper on a brown card and stamped Happy Birthday on the bottom strip. I added the photo corners with brads to the top corners and I'm done. Whewhoo.

Another Scrappy Birthday!

I, again, was using up some scraps that I had for this card. I started out by stamping the sentiment and then ran the top part of the card through my Cuttlebug using the Dotted Swiss template. (which I love by the way) Then I started out by stamping the image on the squares in white ink but it just didn't show up. I don't have a good white ink. Anyway that didn't show so I ended up applying clear embossing powder on top of the white ink and heat set. You can't see it too well on the brown in the pic. I'm still learning how to get all of my details to show up. Then I added the ribbon on the side and that is it. Used up some scrap paper and got a card completed at the same time....whewhoo. Can't beat that.

Shoes & Friends....

....you can't have too many! This is a card I did for our monthly card swap. I used the SLICE for the flower cut outs. I stamped the background paper with Cornish Heritage Scratched Grid and the Shoe is a Stampourri Inc Stamp. I stamped both of these with Tim Holtz Aged Mahogany Distress Ink. I stamped the main image shoe stamp with Memories Black ink and colored with my Prisma Pencils. I added the dots with my Zig pen and chalked the edges to give it more oomph. After I assembled the card I thought it needed something else and so I went back and added the Dew Drops to the smaller flower. Hope everyone likes it at the swap.

The Slice -My New Toy!

Check this out. One of the guys that I work with, his Nephew designed this product. It is being sold by Making Memories. As you can see it is very small and lightweight. It comes with what you see here repositional glue, foam brush, extra blades, tool to change blades, disc, glass mat and of course the machine. You can see more on how it works here. I have been playing with it and it seems to work very well once I got used to it. It cuts letters and shapes from 1 inch up to 4 inches. It makes matting very easy. I know here that Hobby Lobby is selling it already. I haven't seen it in Michaels yet. I used it on the two cards below and will post another one shortly. This was about 2 years in the making. I spoke with the designer when he was getting the basics all figured out. How amazing to have the know how to do something like this. I know this machine will be a great success. Hope you get to check one out for yourselves. You will love it!

Isn't he such a cute little froggie? This is another card I used my new SLICE on. I cut out the tags with it. I stamped and colored the image and then inked around it with Tim Holtz's Distress Inks. I added Dew Drops and I actually put pop dots on just the top of the tags (which you cannot really tell by the photo) The stamp was a clearance stamp from Hobby Lobby but not sure of the brand name. The paper is DaisyD's I believe. Hope you like little froggie birthday.

Scraps of Love!

This just ended up being a card I was trying to use a scrap piece on and play with my new SLICE machine. I will post more about the machine later. The honeycomb strip is a Cuttlebug die cut. This was actually just a piece of scrap paper that I was playing with then I decided to play with my SLICE and so I cut out the hearts. I made a boo boo cutting them out and so the bottom heart had a chunk out of it's left corner which is why I ended up stacking them on top of each other. I scored the top and bottom with my cutter and then added stickles around the hearts and in the embossed areas for extra oomph. So hold onto those scraps and make those screw ups a design/embellishment opportunity..lol.

Texas WINTER

OH My Gosh! I keep seeing all of these blogs with pictures of snow everywhere and it is so pretty. Some of you have been getting way too much snow. Let me tell you if we had even half of what some of you have received everything would be shut down here. We just aren't equipped for it. So let me tell you about our winter so far. We did actually see snow flurries once for about 10 minutes and had a little sleet. Right now though it's about 74 degrees. Yep, thing is, tomorrow the high is only supposed to be 36. It's been like a roller coaster ride at six flags. Two weekends in a row we had temps in the middle 70's on Sunday and on Monday the high was 33. A couple of weekends ago I had to go with a friend to Gordon, Texas which is about a 4 hour drive from where I am and when we left it was hot. I was in a short sleeve T-shirt and flip flops. By the time we got there it was 32 and guess what.....yep...I was still in a short sleeve T-shirt and flip flops. Can you say hack hack cough cough? People please....THAT IS GREEN GRASS in the picture I just took right outside my office. Can some of you even imagine that? It's crazy. It's so weird how one part of the country is having blizzards and the other is basking in the sun. Well whatever kind of winter weather you are having I hope you all get through it without any problems.

Knock Knock? Who's There? Orange! Orange Who?

Orange you glad it's your birthday? Ok look! You don't pay much you don't get much. I have several birthdays coming up in the next few months so I figured I better get started making some B-day cards. Well, let me see if I can explain this one. I stamped the Happy Birthday with Tim Holt's distress ink first. Then I scored the whole card vertically every 1/2 inch. (which you can see better on the right side of the card) I stamped the flower in same ink and went over it with irridescent stickles to make it brighter. The background paper is by My Mind's Eye and I added rickrak to cover seam. I attached the flower with pop dots so that it would sit nicely over the ribbon. Here I go.. I am slowly getting back into the swing of things. Hopefully I will be able to keep things going. Happy Friday everyone.

This card is for my friend Jenifer J. We are both January girls. The Happy Birthday stamp is from Stampin Up! The bottom scallop is a Martha Stewart border punch. The center is made from photo corners which I joined together to make a square and the center flower is actually a sticker. Very simple card but I am just lucky to be doing cards right now so I am trying to get back into the swing of things. Jewelry making has taken over at this point but I am still trying to keep up with my cards. So hopefully I will have some better ones coming up soon. Happy New Year Everybody.

The Same But Different?

Here is another card which is the same but with different background and different ornament. Easy Peasy... but I just had to post something. It has been a super duper long time since I have done anything to this regard. I hope everyone is gearing up for the holidays and I hope more than anything that you don't let the hustle and bustle take over the real meaning of Christmas. It's not about finding the right present and wrapping it to perfection with a fancy bow. Remember that Jesus truly is the reason for the season and please take time to celebrate His birthday by acknowledging Him throughout this season. Can It Be? Really Me?

Hey look! I did remember how to post to my blog. Ok so it's a cheesey card but hey I did one. I embossed the flap of the envelope with my Cuttlebug Snowflake template and highlighted with gold ink. The ornament on the card is actually a 3-D sticker from Michaels but they are soooo pretty. Anyway I didn't really do much here but I at least made a card and maybe will get back into it a little more. I have a new hobby of making jewelry and so all of my time has been devoted to that. I will post some pics of that as soon as I get some good ones. I have found that the jewelry brings in more money than the cards and me being poor.....well.... I have to do what brings in the most money. Dig it?

The Birthday Couple!

Ok so here's a funny story! Here is Bo and Tanya! Their birthdays are like 4 days apart. I'm mean Pullleeese give a poor gal a break! Ok so this was actually to celebrate Bo's birthday and what he is holding up is the gift I bought him. It is a bicycle chain and a bike license plate . So here's the funny story. I have asked Bo for about 3 years if he would fix my bike chain and of course he has no recollection of any of this. According to him nobody has ever mentioned a bike chain to him. So this is the drama that we have been going through for quite some time so, of course, I have to bring it up every chance I get so for his birthday I got him a bicycle chain for my bike so he would fix it.......ha ha hee hee belly laugh. Ok so maybe you have to know all of our weird senses of humor or maybe you just had to be there but it was funny I'm tellin' ya. So maybe, just maybe I'll get my bike fixed so I can get my large white asterick on it and lose some weight that I have steadily put on. I must have gotten a memo in my sleep one night about the world going to quit making sweets or something cuz I have been going crazy like a spider monkey jacked up on mountain dew. Ha ha ha ha ha! I made this card for my BFF's husband Bo. He has a red truck and he is a dork so this was perfect. LOL just kidding you know I love you BoBo! I colored the truck with my Prismas and blended with Gamsol. I added Glossy Accents to the window and mirrors to try to make them look like glass. I put Dew Drops on the tail lights for dimension. I love this stamp and this is the first time I have used it because it is new. It is great for a guy card though don't ya think? Those are always a challenge for me.

This is the card that I made for Tanya for her birthday this year. I stamped the bow with light pink ink and then stamped over it with a plaid stamp with a darker shade of pink. Then I outlined the bow with Cotton Candy Stickles. This kissing technique works better on a solid stamp and this bow stamp isn't exactly totally solid. You get more of the design with a solid stamp. I still like how this one turned out though. Happy Birthday BFF!

Where O Where Have I Been?

Well I went on vacation to Louisville, KY and Cincinnati, OH and have been hot and lazy ever since I got back. You know Texas summers aren't really that much fun when you are as white and hot natured as me. I mean I sweat just walking to my car in the mornings....no lie. We had a great time and got to spend time with family and friends. Get this.....my best friend moved off in 8th grade and she now lives like 9 miles from my Aunt Marlene. How cool is that? Check out some vacation pics and I will have some cards to post soon I hope.

This is my friend Kyla and her large family. Tom, Kyla, (her mom and dad), Donna, Tommy, Abigail, Thomas, Samuel, and Henry. They were a handful but were sooo much fun. Kyla is a great little mommy. This is her dad's restaurant and it is very very yummy. He had to introduce everyone up there to beef BBQ. They were all used to Pork. Very very good.

Me and the Big Boy at Frisches. So the trip was basically centered around all of the old places that I remembered and loved to eat as a kid. We moved from Cincinnati to Texas when I was in 4th grade. Can't beat a big boy and a vanilla coke. Mmmmmmm Mmmmmmm.

Again.....I love to eat as you will notice my size in the pics. This is the famous Cincinnati chili at Skyline. I had a 4 way. Spaghetti, beans, chili, cheese. Of course and a chili cheese coney. OMG AWESOME. Totally AWESOME.

Here is my mom and Aunt Marlene (my Dad's sister) with their bibs on at Skyline.....hee hee It can get very messy but Oh so worth it.

Her is my cousin Steph and her gang. Yes she has 4 kids also. Me, Steph, Dad, Mom, Morgan, Megan, McKenzie, and Matt. OK that might be Megan and then Morgan....I don't know they're twins so who can actually tell? ha I suggested a tatoo of their name on their forehead but it was a no go...LOL

Here are my other cousins Larry, Debbie, Kathy, and me. Uh they're crazy but it was great seeing them. It has been a long long time. We had lots of fun! We laughed and cut up the whole time. Trouble makers is what they are....hee hee

I got to see the Reds play. "Thank you Daddy." I love baseball. We got to see Patrick Henry's Home Makeover Edition House and Band Field. Saw Papa Murphy's big ole house. We toured by our old living places in Amelia, Ohio. We went to the Louisville Slugger museum. We went and ate at Claudia Sanders restaurant. That is the Colonel's wife's place. It was really nice. Of course we ate and ate and ate really really well. It was a very pleasant trip and was great to catch up with family and friends.

Birthday Boy

Finally! I have been trying to upload for a week and evidently blogger was having issues or my end was having issues or something. I tried every day at different times and nothing would upload. Oh well now it has. This is a card I made for a guy birthday. The orange background paper is from K1 & Co and not sure about the retro one. They both came from Hobby Lobby though. The Happy Birthday to you is a stamp from Penny Black and I matted it and mounted it with pop dots. The Dew Drops are clear. Very simple card but colors work for a guy and not too fufuey. I'm going to be going on vacation next week so not sure if I'm going to have time to upload any more cards before I go but I should have some ready when I get back. Happy Day!

Just-A-Chalkin' And A Pouncin'

I'm baaaccckkk. Been a few days since I have posted a card so I thought I would play around with the SCS Technique Challenge this week which was chalk pouncing. I have to say I love my chalks and have used them in several different ways but never by pouncing. I was using the pearlescent chalks which are very light so you had to pounce a lot. I pounced the whole background first and then stamped the flower with Marvy Matchables Grey Ink. I thought since the chalk was so pastel that I would need the image to be a little bolder but black would be too much. After I stamped the image I went back over the flower with my chalks to darken it and highlight it more. The actual image is a little shimmery because of the chalks but it doesn't show in the pic. Overall I am pleased with the results but I think if I do this again I would use my regular chalks which are a lot brighter.

I Love Me Some Rascal!!!

My BFF and I went to Dallas this past weekend to go see Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift opened for them. She was really good too. She's just so stinkin' cute and sweet.

As you can tell we had really awesome seats!

The only thing was it was outside and well it gets very hot and humid in Texas. I'm a wimp so I was sweating from head to toe. Other than that though it was awesome. They always put on a really good show and did I say that I love them? I'm not one of those crazy acting a fool people when celebrities come out and all of that but I gotta tell ya I come pretty close with Rascal. I think if I ever got to talk to them I would probably be one of those screaming, crying, passing out chicks....LOL just kidding but ya never know. My BFF took 205 pictures so she's probably considered a border line stalker or something..hee hee but we had a blast. It was a great weekend. Now I guess I should make a card or something.

She Sells Seashells By The Seashore

HA now you know every one of you are going to be saying that over and over in your head. Can you actually say it 5 times really fast? LOL. I made this card for my Aunt JoAnn who lives in South Carolina. She loves seashells and has some very pretty ones around her house...or she used to. This is actually a new stamp line that I got recently from Impression Obsession and have been wanting to play with it. I stamped the seashells in Gray Marvy Ink and colored with chalks to give it a soft muted look. I have to tell you what I stamped them on and you are going to laugh but hey that's what crafty people do right? Try to be creative? I didn't have any smooth beige paper so I used the back of my checkbook. Yep go pull it out and see the back is a little thicker paper and it was beige so rather than throwing it away I stamped my shells on it....hee hee I popped them up with pop dots onto the brown paper. The striped paper is from K1 & Co. then I added the gray dew drops to help blend and tie in the gray in the shells. I hope she likes it even though I am late in getting it sent out. Happy Birthday Aunt JoAnn! I love you! Happy weekend everybody....I'm going to Dallas to watch Rascal Flatts in concert....love love love them...Hopefully I'll have some cool pics to share next week.

One More Fab Flower

Ok just one more Fab Flower and I promise I will find another stamp to use. It's just that while I had it out playing, I figured I might as well try several different colors and ways to see which one I liked the best. Know what I mean? I colored this one with Marvy markers and spritzed with water. I colored the tips yellow and then filled in the rest with red. After I stamped the image I went around the yellow with a gold gel pen to highlight but it doesn't really show up well in the pic. So it gave it a little sparkly touch. The red background paper is from Daisy D's and the stamp of course if Fabulous Flowers from Stampin' Up! I added the Prima flower with a black brad to bring out a touch more of black and also fill in the blank space. I attached the large flowere with a yellow brad in the middle. Thanks for looking!

Playin' Around

Well this fits the SC181 challenge for this week. I actually had the main image done for a couple of weeks but couldn't figure out how to mount it on a card so when I saw this sketch I knew it would be perfect. I started out with a white piece of cardstock and stamped the baby's breath in white ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. Because the paper and ink were white it made the flowers white. If you were to use white ink on colored paper and clear EP you would just get a darker shade of the color. I didn't have any white emobssing powder so I had to improvise and as you can see this worked just fine. Anyway after I embossed the flowers I began inking my background with Tim Holt's Distress Inks. I started out with Peeled Paint, then added some Pine Needles, and Tea Dye. I stamped the dots with Walnut Stain. Then I stamped the fancy smancy thingy in the top right corner and added white dots with a gel pen. The ribbon is a result of me fixing a boo boo. Then for the separate piece on the left I stamped my sentiment and then added the dots with Walnut Stain and white gel pen. Then added more Peeled Paint with a sponge. Added the arrow brads for filler and mounted it on the brown background paper. I was actually just playing around but like how it ended up for the most part and I hope you do too.

What could be sweeter than binkies, bracelets, & bows? I made this card for one my friends that had a boy......needless to say she never got the card. It's a long story but the whole time she was pregnant I thought she was having a girl so I'm out buying cutesy little dresses and obviously making a pink card and then my BFF calls to tell me that our friend had a boy. You can imagine my surprise. The whole time she was pregnant my BFF kept saying that she wanted it to be a little girl and I thought she said it was for sure a little girl...anyway jokes on me. Of course they thought it was hilarious but when I was out at the last minute scrounging around for a boy gift it wasn't too funny. Actually it was. Don't know the company name of the paper but got it at Hobby Lobby. The Baby Shoe stamp is one that one of my friends gave me a long time ago. Anyway next person who has a girl gets the card I guess....LOL

Greatest Dad of All Time

Well finally here is my Dad's Father's Day card. I was pushing the time limit on this one a little bit. He actually gets more excited about the card than the present. Normally because I usually write a poem. Ok back to the actual card. I stamped the diamond background first and then stamped the clock over it. I decided to ink the edges only after a big blob of brown ink got on the bottom of the clock (and as you know every "mess up" is an embellishment opportunity of some sort). So I ended up inking up the rest of it to match and then inked the edges. Voila the mishap is taken care of with no one the wiser. hee hee. I actually cut the darker green square first so I could properly place the other clock stamp on the sides. The two little clocks up at the top are from Spare Parts that I had left over from another project. I also added some green ink to the sentiment to tone down the white. This was also this week's sketch challenge at SCS.

Here is another Fabulous Flower. I stamped the flower with white ink on the blue paper and then clear embossed. I outlined it with my white gel pen to make it stand out more. I really wanted a white flower with a pop of blue showing in between but I don't have any white embossing powder and can't find any locally so I had to improvise. I matted my designer paper on black and then mounted the flower on the black square and added the white brad in the center. Pretty simple card but I just love this Fabulous Flower stamp set. It is sooo fun. Hope you are having a great day. We are having storms here.

Inspiration Challenge

This is my first time to do the Inspiration Challenge at SCS. They give you the inspiration based on a room, dress, purse, bedspread, painting, ( you get it) and then you make a card using the colors, images, design or whatever strikes you. This was another challenge from Splitcoast. I colored my stamp with markers and then spritzed with water. Then I inked the whole flower with versa mark and embossed with clear EP. I cut the flower out 3 times and layered with pop dots for dimension.

Ok so you're gonna think I'm crazy and the truth is.....I really am! I made this card for Trooper. Who is Trooper you ask? One of my BFF's dogs. Yep that's right I made a card for a dog. CUCKOO! The funnier part is that he goes to the mailbox with her and brings the mail back in his mouth. Yeah. So he gets to bring his own card in from the MB. You can't say mailbox outloud because he goes crazy. Anway he is the calmest lab you will ever see (he's a mama's boy) LOL and he loves going to the mailbox. He had to have a little surgery on his leg and now has an infection in his face. So poor little fella just isn't felling good. When Troop isn't following his mommy around the house you know he doesn't feel good. So I made this card for him from (the even crazier part) my dog Boscoe. The things you do when you live a boring single life. My BFF will think it's funny and her husband will shake his head and say I'm a dork. Deep down he knows who the real dork is....bahhaaaaa

Little Last Sheep

I did this one for the Splitcoast sketch challenge. I just love these little sheep. This one is pretty much self explanatory by looking at it. We have a phrase at our local stamp store that we say "if you can't figure it out by looking at it then ya don't need to be stamping". It was one of those in the class moments and now that's the new coined phrase. Anyway one more sheep to post and then I will lay off the ewe word plays.

Baaaa Haaaaa! Don't you just love a good play on words? Ok well maybe it's just me. Look at how busy I've been playing with Lisa's stamps.....thanks again Lisa. See story below if you don't know about the stamps. Anyway I just had to use this sheep stamp and I saw plaid sheep for some reason. What can I say I'm a city girl. I thought they printed out pretty good though on the plaid. I originally went around the card with my white marker but it didn't stand out enough so I added the Stickles over it. I made the scallop with my corner rounder. You have to have one that the paper guide is removable in order to do this. Then I punched holes in the center of each scallop..... and voila City Sheep are born.

Butterfly Note

Love the colors in this card. The paper actually came from a set that someone gave me for something not too long ago. I stamped the butterflies on the striped paper and then used the circles for the background. I cased this from the Featured Stamper from last week. You take a card from her gallery and then case it putting your own twist on it because you know you can't copy it exactly. That's like Stamper's Faux Paus or something. Anyway the card that I cased from her is here. This is one that I started late and of course couldn't go to bed until I finished it. Yawn! I put Dew Drops in the center of the butterflies which you can't see very well. Then also added them out beside the sentiment. I added Cotton Candy Stickles to the butterflies as well to give them some sparkle. Maybe one day I'll become a better photographer and be able to capture that sparkle a little better. The card size is actually 3 1/2 x 7 1/2. It started out as 4 x 8 but I took the matte off and just used the circle paper and so I wasn't going to waste the piece I had already cut. Anyway I am pleased how this turned out and have been wanting to do a butterfly card for a while. Hope you like it too.

The DAD is actually prettier in real life because it is embossed in gold and the shimmer lost something in the photo. Greatest was printed out on the computer and then I went around the edges with my Gold Leaf Pen. The rest is pretty much self explanatory. This is my last one for the shop so now I can try to get my Dad's done.

Well we are having storms today but thankfully not like Iowa had yesterday. My heart and prayers go out to everyone that was caught in those tornadoes yesterday. This has been a very stormy season for us here so far. I don't like them at all. Of course neither does my wimpy dog. Well here is another Father's Day Card. Love the colors in this card. The blues and browns look really masculine. You can't see it very well in the pic but there is brown ribbon separating the two background papers. Didn't want to make it prissy so I didn't tie a bow, I just put a strip of ribbon to separate the two papers. The paper is from The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby of course 50% off) The circles at the top were put there in place of brads for a challenge over on splitcoast. Of course as you see I still snuck some brads in...I couldn't resist. Well hope your day after a holiday is going well. Thank you to all of the veterans out there and to all of the men and woman in our military who have fought and are currently fighting for our freedom. You are truly heroes in my eyes. All of you! Here is one of the Father's Day cards that I am doing for the shop I have my cards in. These are some more of the freebie stamps that I am getting to play with. I stamped the lures onto the circles and added the white dots with gel pen. Then attached them with pop dots. I stamped the fishy on white paper and then inked with yellow ochre and green. Added the dots with my navy marker. Stamped the Dad sentiment on the plaid paper and added the Gold Dew Drops. I haven't figured out what sentiment I am going to put on the inside yet so I will have to finish that up. Hope to have all of my other Father's Day cards finished by Monday. Graduation Money Holder

OK so I have to tell you this story because it is sooo cute. My friend's son Joe (who are like family to me) is graduating from high school this year. Can't believe it. But I have to tell this story on him. When he was 5 he took me out on a date. He bought me a corsage and everything and we even had our picture taken in front of the TV which is where every date couple got their picture taken before they left. Anyway his mom drilled him and drilled him and told him how to be a gentleman and open my door and order for me at the restaurant (sure can't find any of that these days) anyway and her last instructions were "whatever you do Joe DON'T TAKE HER TO MCDONALDS." So with Joe in the backseat (hee hee) and me in the front we are off to dinner so I ask Joe where he wants to go eat and he says "DaDonalds" and I said "Joe don't you want to go to Red Lobster" (which he loved) and he said "no I wanna go to DaDonalds" So this went on with about every restaurant in town and guess where we went? To DaDonalds. His mom couldn't believe it! Then we went to Toys R Us and bought him a bow and arrow which he later got taken away because he was shooting it at his little sister. Oops. Now my little JoeJoe is going to be heading off to college. They grow up fast don't they? He is a wonderful young man with great morals and character and I am so proud of him. Precious memories...O how they linger. I love ya Joe and I wish you the best! Thank you for the best date I've ever had!

More Grapes

When I was "stomping/stamping grapes" I did several but rather than cutting this one out in an oval I just framed the image. The felt flower is something I picked up around Easter at Hobby Lobby. They were in a package of about 12 or so and of course on sale because I buy nothing unless it is on sale. My Uncle Bub would be proud of that. Hey Uncle Bub...love ya! These flowers are really cute and add dimension to your cards. Hope you like this one too. I'm really having fun playing with all of these free stamps.....weeeeeeeee

Ok so maybe I'm a little fruity today but hey it's a holiday weekend so I'm entitled. I colored the stamp with Marvy Markers and then spritzed with water for muted watercolor look. I chalked around the oval to tone down the white. The sentiment is embossed with Bridal EP and I added the lines around the edges and ribbon to fill in the blanks.

Doggie Days of Summer

Here is another card I did with white ink on dark paper. I did this one a while back. This is called the pencil over technique. You stamp your image in white ink on dark paper. Then you color with Prismas coloring over the outlined image. Hence the name pencil over. This gives it that highlighted, neon look. Pretty neat look huh? My favorite card with this technique can be found here. Love it. Anyway it's a different look than the norm- black ink on white paper. Hope you like. Give it a try!

How awesome is that statement...Pretty much sums it up for me! Wish I could remember that more often when I am in a frantic worrisome state. Anyway I saw a card over on Splitcoast in hbrown's gallery where she had done this technique and so I had to play too. You can see the sparkle better in her pic. I have had this stamp for a while and never used it so I thought I would break it in, ink it up and get it dirty. You stamp your image on dark paper with white ink. Then I put stickles on the leaves which you can't see in this pic but they are all sparkly. I love stickles. Really dresses up and pops things out. Very easy and fast card and you know that's what I'm all about.

Just wanted you to know that I am still alive. I have been very busy and haven't been able to make many cards lately. But I should have several to post in the upcoming days. I stole this stamp from my BFF one day when I was babysitting her doggies....I do that a lot....not babysit her doggies but steal her stamps..hee hee Isn't it great to have someone to steal stamps from? Anyway I have since returned it thank you very much. I colored the stamp with markers and then spritzed with water. Needed more color for me so I chalked the flowers to give them a halo and did the same with the Hello. Very simple card as I most always do but liked the outcome. It's rather different and a one dimentional card which I rarely ever do anymore.

Am I Lucky Or What?

Check this out! Ok so I got a call last Friday from a girl I don't even know but who knows someone I work with. Anyway you know how stampers and scrapbookers are so we talked about everything under the sun and turns out she stamps but is going to school and has no time to use them right now so check this out.....she sent all of her stamps up here to work for me to use. Yep that's right probably over 150 stamps and she just boxed them up and sent them to me to use for a while until she gets time to get back into it. How cool is that? I still have not ever met her except by phone. Wow! So I have laid them all out and will sort them eventually by theme and start playing. I'm still in shock. I mean how crazy is this? How sweet of a person does she have to be to let someone she doesn't even know be in charge of her stamps like that? Of course I'm a little OCD so I will most definitely take extra good care of them but this is AWESOME! So thanks a bunch Lisa and I hope to meet you soon! Aren't stampers and scrapbookers like the easiest people to get to know? Have you discovered that? I'm in stamp heaven right now!

Time Spent With Friends

I have been trying to download this card for months and it just didn't want to do it for some reason. Anyway.....tadah...it finally worked. The theme was time and at the time (ha get it) I didn't have any clock or time related stamps except for the sentiment. So I found these cute clock faces by Spare Parts and so I put them in the center of the flower with a heart brad. All of the stamps used are from Stampin' Up! Also at the time I didn't have the spiral punch so I used a business card punch that allows you to put a business card in a rolodex and tried to eyeball it to make it as even as possible since I needed more than two slots. Worked like a charm. I colored in the friends and flowers with a marker and added Glossy Accents to make it shine. Also added jewels to the flower centers, the I, and on the ribbon for added jazz. The large flower was ebmossed with Copper EP and then colored in with Prismacolors and blended with Gamsol. Enjoy the time you spend with your friends and cherish every moment. Butterfly Congrats

Well I have to say that I'm not too proud of this one but was running out of time. This is for the shoebox shuffle tomorrow and I have to make 12. Well actually you make one prototype but then cut the paper and bag up all of the embellishments so that each person can make the card themselves using your stuff. Anyway it's lots of fun but as I said a few days ago have been having daily headaches and so I have gotten majorly behind. So I was going to dup a previous layout and change paper but am not really excited about the end result but like I said it's tomorrow and don't have a lot of time left to get it done. I may try to tweak it a little bit more tonight if I get time but for now this is it. I thought it might be a cute graduation card though. I will post the cards that I make Sat. next week. I'm sure they will all be adorable. We have a group of really talented ladies. The butterfly and congrats are embossed with Cranberry embossing powder.

I Dream Of Paris

Gettin' down and dirty on this one as you will see below. I made this card for our local monthly card swap. This is the one where I had the ideas floating around in my head for a month but couldn't put them all together. Well, here is what I finally came up with. The theme was "in your dreams". So I thought what better dream does a person have than of Paris. The Eiffel Tower is actually embossed with Black Diamond embossing powder which makes it sparkly but you can't tell that in the pic. I started out with a 4x6 cardstock and embosssed the tower. Then I stamped all of the major stamps clock, girl, postage, key masking each one as I went along. Then I went back and added the background script and diamonds. Stamped journey in remaining open spot and then added color with my distress inks. Very involved and got very dirty. I had ink everywhere. All over my hands up my arm, on my nose...because you know your nose itches every time you get your hands dirty right? I printed the I dream of Paris on computer and cut strips and folded them in half. Added color with inks to highlight dream and Paris. Then I added color to girl's lips, eyes, cheeks with Prismacolors.

Way Behind

Well I am waaaaayyyy behind. I haven't stamped in a week. I have a card swap on Friday (6 cards) and a Shoebox Shuffle on Saturday (12 cards). So I guess I better get busy. I'm having stamper's block I guess and then there is the whole time factor. I've had ideas floating around in my head since the last swap but I just can't seem to put them together. When I try to "stamp" out my ideas they just don't work out like they do in my head. Then I have been having headaches every day so that doesn't help. So I'm hoping that this week will be a productive one and that my ideas come together on a card. Otherwise I'm going to be in big trouble. I would love to hear any suggestions of how you get yourself back on track with stamping when you get out of the mood, unmotivated, or just plain stamper's block. Hope everyone has a great week and hopefully I will have some more stuff to post at the end of this week.

Bright and Simple

I was needing something cheery and bright to send to one of our client's who found out she has lung cancer so I started playing around. To do the circles I colored the end of a pencil eraser (unused of course) with a marker and then stamped it on the card. It makes a perfect circle every time. The flower stamp was also colored with markers and then spritzed with water before stamping. You can't see it very much but I scored the card on both sides of the circles to give it more definition.

For the card on the right I did the same thing with the heart stamp and here you can see the scored lines better. This was a medium size pencil. I need to find some larger pencils but I love using a pencil eraser to make circles. It's fun, fast and easy. You'll love it once you try it.

Please add Wanda Roberson to your prayer list as she battles this horrible disease. They have given her about a year.

Mother's Day Birdies

You should be able to click on each picture to make it larger if needed. These are my three little birdies that I have been playing with. I have been practicing my Prisma coloring. I will never be as good as Lori but maybe I will at least learn how to stay inside the lines....LOL This stamp is from Stamp Camp and is one of those that is hard to see the detail until you start coloring it and then you can tell a branch from a leaf from a bird. I promise before you begin coloring it all runs together and is very hard to see the image. As you can tell they all turned out different. Overall though I am pleased with the results. I stamped the middle one with Brown ink and think that ended up being my favorite one. The Happy Mother's Day was $1 stamp from Michaels and I chalked the flowers and leaves to add a little bit of color to it. I hope the Mom's that get these cards enjoy them.

Another Mother

No I don't really have 3 moms. I'm making these to put in a local store. Just thought I would explain. LOL Anyway the heart is from Stampin' Up Always set....which I just love. I embossed it with green embossing powder. I inked around the outside edges with Weathered Wood Distress Ink to tone down the white. I added some brads and velvet ribbon and Voila! A card is made. I'm running out of time but hopefully will have one more for you tomorow. This is an A6 size card and paper is We Are Memory Keepers from Hobby Lobby.

Here is a Mother's Day card and I actually didn't use any stamps at all. I just cut out the flowers and popped up two sides and the mom was printed on the computer. I love the new Dew Drops they are so fun to use and add so much. This was a pretty fast card to put together. When I saw these prints I immediately saw a Mom card. I love these colors together. This is The Paper Studio paper I believe from Hobby Lobby.

Humpty Dumpty Had a Great "Water" Fall

Ok so sometimes you just have to share the funny outcomes too. This was supposed to be an attempt at watercoloring with markers. Clearly, mine did not work quite as well as it did here. I don't know what lb paper I have but it's not 140 like it says in the tutorial. Anyway so I started out with Humpty's big ole head and put a little bit of yellow on the top and bottom but when I tried to drag the color with the watercolor pen it wouldn't drag it. The color was just sitting there in a blob on top of his head...so the more I tried the worse it got....stupid big headed egg man. I mean really! I was going for a very pale yellow look. As you can see I didn't quite achieve this effect. The more I tried the worse it got. I kept adding water to try to lighten..dabbed...water....dabbed...then his big ole egg head ended up smeared into the sky but I'm calling it sun. LOL! Anyway I continued because I'm just stupid that way and basically this is what I ended up with. I may try again..(not sure at this frustrated point) with the 140 lb paper but I have to be honest...as of now... I'm not a big fan of watercolor with markers in this respect. I prefer to pick up the color from my little pallette thingy. Oh well what can I say? Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall...Humpty Dumpty stressed me out ya'll!

Butterfly Birthday

This card was simple but I loved how it turned out. I embossed the Butterfly and the Happy Birthday with Black Diamond embossing powder. So they look sparkly in real life. Matted on red and black to pop out. Tied velvet ribbon around butterfly to give some more dimension and added the brads for some more oomph. This also fits sketch challenge 172 on Splitcoast. Happy almost Friday......whewhoo.

Roses Roses Everywhere

This one was fun. I'm working on my masking abilities. I used only one color of ink. I stamped the center rose first and masked. Then I taped off the Happy Birthday sections with Eclipse tape and stamped roses in remaining spots. Colored them in with Colorbox Chianti Ink and a duster until I reached the desired shade. Then I moved the tape over to cover up the rose sections and stamped my Happy Birthday sentiments and dusted with same color only lighter. Then removed tape and center mask and went over whole picture with same color again. This was so large though that it didn't leave me much to do with embellishing the rest of the card. This was alot of fun and my masking abilities have improved a little.

Thank You Roses!

This is a thank you card that I made for my Aunt Sharlot who lives in Dallas and is single and looking for a very rich man. As am I. Her number is....ha just kidding Auntie! Ok back to the card. This was done by masking the roses and then I added the vines around it for some more design and to fill in the blank spots. I inked the edges with the same color as roses. I actually colored the roses with a stipple brush. I needed to fill in the dead corner on the left and so I stamped the Thank You there to fill that in. Hope she likes it.

I Took The Eylelet Challenge!

So I decided to take the eyelet challenge, ya know since I had a couple in my accessory box. OK maybe that's a couple "googillion" for those of you who watched American Idol Gives Back. By the way America...you got it wrong this week. Michael Johns should still be in the competition... but I digress. LOL- The challenge was to use eyelets in any form or fashion on your project. So I took my SU! Simply Said flower stamp and added the flower eyelets in place of the stamped flower. I have had these eyelets forever and have never used them on anything so I figured now was the time. I went around each flower with chalk to "try" to make it look like a halo effect instead of the blob of multiple colors that it actually turned out to look like.....but anyway went around the scallops with a gel pen. I also went over the flower stems with stickles for added sparkle and color. I stamped the sentiment in purple ink and then went over it with my silver glitter gel pen to give it more sparkle. Once again I used my new favorite Dotted Swiss Cuttlebug folder to emboss the dots on the pink. Another quick card but I had fun playing and afterall...that's what it's all about right? Having fun and playing at the same time?

Two challenges in one! Wow! Well I am finally getting to play with all of the other stampers over on Splitcoast. However, I don't get to play as timely as most of them do. Most of my challenges are a week behind...but oh well at least I am getting to play. This card fits the Faux Cloisonne' and SC171 challenges. I colored the shoes with Prismacolors and added the dots to frame it out. The background is cuttlebugged with my new favorite dotted swiss template and then inked with white ink. I added the brads for some extra oomph. Not real fond of the paper but I was trying to use up what I had. You know I'm a paper hoarder. Hope you like! Happy Monday!

Best Mom In the Whole Wide World

Well you have seen my Mother's Day Card and now here is my beautiful mother. God blessed me dearly with this sweet lady. She is so beautiful both inside and out. She doesn't look like she's about to turn 70 does she? Shh don't tell her I told you. I can only wish to be an ounce of the lady that she is. She is strong yet gentle, tough yet loving, and oh my gosh does she have the most forgiving spirit ever. To have that quality is awesome and she fulfills it with style. She is classy but can kick your #$%@ (tail). I'm telling you guys she is the complete package. Fun loving, generous, gentle spirit. Can you tell that I respect and admire my mother sooooo much? I forgot she is an absolute prayer warrior. I have seen God answer so many of her prayers. She is AWESOME! I love you Mom! Thanks for always, always, always being there for me!

Happy Mommy's Day

This is the card I made for my mom for Mother's Day....problem is her birthday is first. Oh well what can I say? The yellows are actually a lot softer in real life and flow really well with the rest of the stuff. Anyway this is a stamp that one of my friend's gave me a long time ago right after I first started stamping. She gave me 68 stamps. How cool is that? Awesome right? Well I have been wanting to watercolor and I thought this would be a good stamp to try it out on. So the whole thing is watercolored..yeahhhhh! I still need some more practice but thought it would do. You can't read the sentiment but it says "Of all the many mother's (He's created quite a few) God found His perfect mold when He made a mom like you....awwwwwww. The mom is rub-ons that I put on a metal tag with a heart brad. Velvet ribbon and dew drops in top left corner. I actually cut out the circle with scallop scissors...not an easy task and then I added cotton candy stickles to the scallops. Hope you like. Guess I better get crackin' on her B-day card. (Don't worry she doesn't know how to use a computer so I have no fear of her seeing this before Mother's Day.) LOL

Fabulous Collage

This is my second attempt at this collage. I would show you the first but you would LOL. Lot of stamping on this one but this was actually kinda fun. Next time I will use the Marvy inks because they dry quicker. I started out with glossy paper and inked the whole thing with tulip yellow. Then I stamped the veins background stamp with scattered straw (which if you look closely around her face and arm area you may be able to see). I then stamped the butterfly in broken china changing directions and leaving the center area open. Next I stamped the large flower in aged mahogany and the the smaller flower in peeled paint. I filled in the blank spots with a vine stamp in fern green. I stamped (my favorite) girl in the center in black stazon and lastly the sentiment. I outlined the whole thing with my gold leaf pen. The burgundy plaid paper was run through the cuttlebug and then inked the raised dots with my gold cat eye. Lastly I added the flowers for foof. Card size is 5/7 and background strips are 2 x 4 3/4 and the glossy paper is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2. Ta Da! You can find more about this technique here. Thanks for stopping by! Have a FABULOUS day!

Amazing Grace!

Finally! I got to put some ink on this Amazing Grace stamp that I bought in January at convention. I stamped Distress Ink in Old Paper and Tea Dye on glossy paper. Then I stamped the rose in the bottom corner. Masked it and stamped the Amazing Grace on top of it in Walnut Stain. I also added Glossy Accents to the rose to make it shiny and stand out....but here's the thing..it removed a lot of the color and lightened it up a bunch. I'm not sure if it is because it was on glossy paper or what. I have not noticed this problem before but it changed the color considerably. So make a note. Anyway, I tore the edges and inked with Walnut Stain and a Chestnut cat eye. The paper I used is double sided so I used the back side and cuttlebugged with swirls. Then I punched holes and threaded the ribbon. It needed something else and so I went around the edges with my Gold Leaf pen. I also heat set it and the organza ribbon to make it curl. Then I mounted everything on the front side of patterned paper and added photo corners that I punched out of burgundy velvet paper. Voila! There you have it. The Amazing Grace Stamp....which I absolutely love and am so glad I bought. Wish the rose hadn't lightened up so much but it still looks ok in real life. Anyway this is my card for the April Card swap and the theme is Words to Live By. Hope you like it!

Big Ole Birthday Flower

I borrowed this stamp from one of my friends Theresa H. It is a big ole flower let me tell ya. Anyway I stamped the flower and then cut it out. I stamped the smaller flowers in the background and added a white gel pen in the center of each flower to make them pop. I also stamped the small flower behind the Happy Birthday which you can barely see. The large flower and the center of the large flower are all pop dotted. Hope you like!

Hanging Treat Box

Look! It's a matching set. I made this to go with the gift card holder card for Jenn's B-day. You can get the tutorial here at Splitcoast. Another easy project. I filled this with goodies and gave this delicious Welch's sparking grape juice along with the gift card. These hanging treat boxes are great and you can use them with water and fill them with Chrystal lite packages or all sorts of things. It just goes on and on. I know Jenn likes this stuff so I went with the sparkling grape juice. Hope you enjoyed your Birthday Jenn - you almost old lady...(insert snort here) hee hee

Here is a super fast card that I put together for my long time friend Jennifer P. I was really surprised at how fast this card came together. You can find the instructions on Scor-Pal's website under their Feb/Mar online magazine. I had the base of the card cut, scored and put together in like 3 minutes. Super easy. Cute way to send a gift card. I colored the balloons with PrismaColors and blended with Gamsol. Inked edges and matted on lime green. Tied the pink ribbon to add some foof. I stamped the balloons on cardstock as well to add more design to the paper. She loved it. In fact we were going shopping and instead of taking the gift card out she took the whole card. She's always been a pro at knowing how to make you feel good though.

My first big order! Yeah! 100 cards! These cards were made for a wedding magazine owner to send out to her advertisers to let them know when their ad was coming up for renewal and to thank them for their buisness. The inside sentiment of the pink ones are printed on vellum and the red ones are just printed on the actual card. This magazine is very well put together and very very nice. I hope you check it out. Let me remind you that I live in a town of about 76,000 people but this is no small town magazine. It is very classy and professional. I hope you check it out. She is doing a great job.

Meet My Very Own SuperHero

Well here he is folks...My very own Hero Bo aka "the car wheeler and dealer". He is awesome! Ok so actually, this is the only way I could get him to ever look at my blog is if I posted a picture of him on it. Of course now that I posted this picture he will probably never talk to me again. But I'm sure he's probably thinking he is some sort of celebrity now or something. He's probably walking around trying to sell his autograph. I can feel his big ole head growing larger by the minute...ha! He really is awesome but he and I have this sarcastic thing going so I can't really tell him that very often. He and Tanya have been really good to me. You normally only dream about finding people as loyal as they are. I'm the lucky one! 3 cheers for my hero Bo! Hip Hip Horray! Hip Hip Horray! Let Me Call You Hero

This is a thank you card that I sent to my hero -AKA Bo. The story goes like this. I owned a piece of poo poo Buick Rendevous that was nothing but trouble since I had it. Long story short it was time to get rid of it. So the dreaded car search began. I absolutely hate car shopping and car dealing. It's all a stupid game. Anyway my first choice car was a Honda CR-V but was a little out of my range. So I started looking and Bo (my hero) and Tanya (my BFF) started looking and I test drove cars and looked at just about everything. I kept going back to the Honda - my heart's desire. So finally I asked Bo(my hero) if he thought we could even get close to my range and the negotiations began. On Saturday, Sept 1, 2007 we were at the Honda place wheeling and dealing. Well Bo (my hero) was. I was actually fretting and stewing. So by hour 3 I'm mad, angry, frustrated and tired of playing the game and I'm ready to go. But my calm hero Bo just stuck with them while at the same time had to keep telling me to calm down. I mean they wouldn't even give us an interest rate and then they are wanting us to sign papers. What's up with that? I haven't said I want the car yet. I HATE THE GAME! It's ridiculous. Well we finally make it to the finance guy and we are still over my set limit. AGAIN..I'm ready to walk out and go home and AGAIN my calm hero Bo kept at it and talked them into giving me $500 more for trade in and we got my pmyt in my range. When it was all said and done my car pymt was only $2 more than the Buick. So I go home with my "first choice" car without having to sell my mom and a new hero! Can't beat that. I literally cried all the way home. Way to go BoBo...you're still my hero!!!!!!

Cranky Old Buzzard

I just love these stamps from Deadbeat Designs. They have a lot of Western and Texas stamps. This was a birthday card that I sent to my BFF's husband Bo (my adopted brother). You'll learn more about him later on. The buzzards were stamped in black ink and stamped off twice. The designer paper was torn and curled and the sentiment was adhered with brads. Another very simple minded card. You know I always heard keep it simple stupid so I pretty much do. :)

OK so by now you guys know that I'm not real computer friendly but can get around enough to manage. So all of this new blog stuff is a real challenge for me. So I figured out how to do the slide show right? Then when I transported it to my blog it was in a post....well...I wanted it on the side but for the life of me could not figure out how to move it over there. Everthing I tried would not work. I have copied and pasted so many addresses it's not even funny. Well finally after 3 days of trying I figured it out....well....then you couldn't see but half of it...so it took me about an hour or more to figure out how to shrink it down to where you could see the whole thing....and then BAM! whoop there it is! All completed and moved over to the side and I didn't even have to call Matt. Now I only have a couple more things I need to figure out and I am well on my way to having my blog look halfway decent. For those of you that are computer whizzes (my tongue is sticking out at you) just kidding...you just have no idea how some of these things can be so difficult if you don't know the language...but hey....I have learned so much since I started this thing at the first of the year. Soo YEEHAW! We have now officially entered the world of blogging! I just may have to go to Chick-fil-A to treat myself to a cookie shake. Happy Weekend you guys!

Card Swap

These are some of the cards that I received at one of our card swaps. Aren't they adorable? We have some very talented ladies in our area. It's fun to get together and glean off of each other. Anyway the theme for this swap was TIME. I apologize to the other 3 people whose cards that I didn't post. I couldn't get them down to shoot a picture. Long story...I'll show you a picture of my scrapbook room someday and it will make sense!

Prismacolor Valentine

This card is so much better in person. This is a Paper Inspirations stamp. If you have never seen these colored, they are absolutely gorgeous. This was a Prismacolor class that we took with Lori Evers. You have got to check out her blog. She has some awesome work done with these stamps. www.iwillseizethedaisy.blogspot.com (bear with my guys I'm still trying to learn how to do the links with just a name instead of an address) I will get there eventually. I could not get a good picture of this to save my life but it is beautiful. We used 20 different colors in this and I would have sworn there was only like 5. That's how good Lori is with blending and shading. I promise you ...you will want to check out her blog.

Hope you like this one. It took a little longer than the rest of mine so far because I am not a big fan of coloring but I do like how it turned out. The stamp was stamped in Black Pigment Ink and then colored with Prismacolors. I blended with the lovely Gamsol and chalked around the image with grey chalk. I matted it on weave looking background paper and added the brads. The wanted was stamped in Walnut Distress Ink and then tied the hemp cord onto side. The wood plank paper was bought a very long time ago and I have no idea where I got it. I promise you guys with all of my new cards that I make I will keep up with this stuff better. I'm just trying to post what I have done so far.
